ST MARY MAGDALENE
WELCOME TO PULHAM MARKET CHURCH
A very friendly church in beautiful surroundings
Pulham Market has a lively and active church, which is in partnership with the village Methodist Church. This is a gateway church, and is open for visitors at all reasonable times. On Tuesday evening there is a Bible study alternating with a prayer group which meets at different venues around the village. There is a ring of eight bells in the tower. Bell practice is on Thursday afternoon at 2 - 3.30pm. Sunday ringing 9am on first and third Sundays, but check with the tower captain (Brian Carr 01379 676292) in case of alterations.
On the first Sunday of the month there is a Holy Communion service with hymns at 9.30am using the Common Worship service books. There is a Sunday School during the service. Refreshments are served after the service.
In the evening at 6.30pm there is a joint Celebration Service which is held in the Methodist Church Hall; it usually begins with worship in a modern tradition with worship songs accompanied by guitar, drums and violin; this is followed by a variety of activities, from a lecture by a significant local speaker to a picnic on the Green!
On the second Sunday there is a said service of Holy Communion at 8.00am. At ten o'clock breakfast is served in the school hall, and there are Bible-based activities for children. This is followed by a joint Anglican / Methodist outreach service at 10.45 in the Memorial Hall.
On the third Sunday there is a Holy Communion service with hymns, and a Sunday School at 9.30am using the Common Worship. Refreshments are served after the service.
On the fourth Sunday there is a modern language service of Morning Prayer. This includes contributions by members of the congregation, Power Point presentations and a mixture of traditional and modern music. The service is followed by refreshments. At 11am NlightN begins. This is usually a quiet, meditative service which includes activities, discussion and modern worship songs. A Sunday School runs alongside this service.
On the fifth Sunday there is a joint Benefice service.
